ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY

1. Assumption of General Risk

Participation in recreational and athletic activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Physical injury (minor or serious)

  • Permanent disability

  • Death

  • Damage to personal property

  • Exposure to the elements, insects, or animals

  • Accidents during travel

  • Lack of immediate medical services

  • Transmission of contagious diseases, including COVID-19

I fully accept and assume all risks associated with my participation in activities hosted by the Complex.

2. Participant’s Responsibility

I agree to:

  • Self-assess for symptoms of illness prior to attending events or using the facilities.

  • Report any unsafe conditions to staff and withdraw from participation if I deem it unsafe.

  • Follow all rules, guidelines, and health protocols established by the Complex.

3. Waiver and Release of Liability

In consideration for being allowed to participate in events at the Southern Colorado Athletic Complex:

  • I, for myself, my heirs, and assigns, voluntarily release and discharge SoCoField.org, its owners, affiliates, employees, volunteers, sponsors, and other participants from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, or causes of action, including those arising from the negligence of the released parties.

  • This waiver applies to claims for personal injury, illness (including COVID-19), property damage, and wrongful death.

This waiver is binding and enforceable even if my participation results in personal or economic loss.

4. Emergency Medical Authorization

If I require emergency medical treatment while participating in any activity, I authorize licensed medical personnel to administer any treatment deemed necessary. I also authorize staff or medical professionals to act on my behalf if I am unable to do so.

5. Use of Likeness

I consent to the use of my name, image, and/or voice in photographs, video, and other promotional materials created by the Complex. I understand I will not receive compensation for such use.

6. Data Privacy

The Complex agrees not to sell my personal information to third parties without my express consent.

Code of Conduct for Coaches, Players, and Spectators

Mission Statement

To foster a respectful, safe, and competitive environment that promotes sportsmanship, community, and fair play for all participants, coaches, referees, and spectators.

General Principles for All Participants

  • Show respect to referees, players, coaches, and spectators at all times.

  • Celebrate and encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive effort.

  • Cooperate with tournament officials and abide by all decisions made in the spirit of fair competition.

  • Understand that your behavior reflects on your team, the tournament, and the Southern Colorado Athletic Complex.

Coaches' Code of Conduct

  • Model respectful behavior toward referees, players, and opposing teams.

  • Promote positive communication and sportsmanship among players.

  • Support and encourage all players regardless of the match outcome.

  • Handle concerns and conflicts privately, observing a 24-hour cool-off period when necessary.

  • Ensure all players and guests are informed of and comply with this Code of Conduct.

  • Take responsibility for the conduct of assistant coaches, team staff, and team spectators.

Players' Code of Conduct

  • Compete with integrity, respect opponents, and play within the rules.

  • Never engage in foul language, taunting, or unsportsmanlike conduct.

  • Respect referee decisions—even in disagreement.

  • Avoid reckless or dangerous play and take safety seriously.

  • Support your teammates and opponents with positive reinforcement.

  • Do not consume alcohol, nicotine products, or illicit substances at the playing field.

Spectators' Code of Conduct

  • Applaud superior play, effort, and sportsmanship—for both teams.

  • Refrain from coaching players from the sidelines.

  • Keep all comments positive and encouraging.

  • Avoid any criticism of referees, coaches, or players.

  • Remain at least two yards from the playing field to ensure a safe environment.

  • Never use obscene gestures, foul language, or display aggressive behavior.

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages or nicotine products at the field site.

  • Comply immediately with any official’s request or instruction.

Enforcement and Consequences

  • Any violation of this Code of Conduct may result in:

    • Immediate ejection from the game or field area.

    • Suspension or removal of individual players, coaches, or spectators.

    • Team suspension from the tournament for repeated or egregious violations.

  • The Southern Colorado Athletic Complex reserves the right to terminate a team’s participation due to persistent misconduct, with no refund of fees.

  • Coaches and team managers are held accountable for the behavior of their team members and guests.

By participating in or attending the First Annual Adult Soccer Tournament, you agree to uphold these standards and contribute to a respectful, safe, and enjoyable event for all.
